So I finally pulled the head unit (HU) out today and took some measurements.  If I plan this right, I can get a screen and an optical drive in the slot.  It'll be some work but I think it's worth it.

Just to bring anyone up to speed:

First off, I've had three kidney stones over the past month.  I still have one somewhere between my kidney and my bladder.  I've passed the other two.  I'm just a mean cuss like that.  Write that down in ya journal, natch.

I've also bought the smart roadster.  The week before I picked it up DaimlerChrysler issued a release stating that this would be the last run of roadster's under the smart brand.  So I now have an instant collector's item.  And is this thing fun to drive.  Plenty of pep (but not too much), distinctive looks, well-engineered and well, it's just nice to own a new car.  I've never had a brand new car before.  That smell is mine!  Well, the smell is mixed with brand new clutch burning itself in.

I'm still at my job with realestate.com.au.  I tried for a position with the AFL (Australian Football League) but didn't get it.  No big deal; I'm actually fairly happy with where I'm at now.  I just hope they're happy with me.

Photos of the car will be forthcoming.  Now is the time to plan how to put a computer in that thing.  The dealership is interested to see how I do this.  Only time, money and patience will tell ...

So I'm working now.  The offer they made me is more than I thought I'd be getting.  Now I just have to make some decisions on what to do with some of this money I'll be receiving.  Might buy a smart car (http://www.smart.com); the roadster.  Small, efficient, sporty and Benz engineered.  It's either that or try to con my dad into letting me ship the Stang over.  A true practical vs cool dilemma.  I test drive the roadster this coming Saturday.  We'll see how it goes.

Lots of really depressing and angering shit going on this holiday season.  At least the surf's up in Sri Lanka!
